Why Hire a Professional?
Videos shot by friends or family tend to fall short of expectations. They tend to include shaky footage, too many zooms, missed audio, and they are assembled in a way that is not very interesting to watch. There is no substitute for a professional videographer who will show up, prepared to create magic. Professional camera gear is used to ensure every vibrant color and detail is preserved. Separate audio recorders and microphones are used, to capture "I do," "take this ring...", and the day's little whispers. Broadcast editing equipment is used to ensure that your images and sounds retain their original clarity. Other than equipment, the professional videographer ensures that your footage is assembled in a manner that will share emotions, and tell a story, a la Hollywood.
Do you attend rehearsal?
Absolutely. Rehearsal allows your videographer to become familiar with your wedding site. This is an opportunity for the professionals to conduct sound and light checks, and observe camera angles. This is also an opportunity for us to become familiar with your wedding party. If your guests meet with us on rehearsal, they'll be less likely to shy away from the "camera guy" on the wedding day.
How should we choose a videographer?
If you are tempted to choose a videographer based solely on the lowest price, ask yourself this question. If the video turned out poorly, would you write a letter of recommendation saying, "The video was poor but the price was great." There is no substitution for quality. Other than quality, you must choose a videographer that is cooperative. Your wedding day will progress very rapidly, and the last thing you want is a video team that is adding to your stress. You want a videographer that will work diligently around your schedule and will work respectfully with other vendors. Also remember, that when you hire a videographer, you're not only buying his talent and skill, you're also buying their personality. It is very important to choose a videographer that will allow you to be yourself on your wedding day. VD8 Digital Video will make sure that video production does not add to the day's stress.
Why is there such a great price difference among differnt video companies?
Many companies cater to a specific clientele. To call several video companies and ask, "How much do you charge for_________?" is not going to be a true indicator of value. This would be like calling L*ng John Silvers and the Aquarium restaurants to ask how much for a shrimp plate. Each store has great values, but offer different experiences. On paper, the price you get from L*ng John Silvers will be much lower than the Aquarium. The Aquarium, however, will offer a wider variety of shrimp, scenic atmosphere, and a great wait staff. Like food, video services can expand from one end to another, on the price scale. So, if one price is much higher or lower than another, it would be a good indicator that apples are being compared to oranges. Disclaimer: In no way does this answer imply that food and service at L*ng John Silvers is bad or inferior to other restaraunts. This is simply a comparison of differnt prices/services. Personally, I enjoy eating L*ng John Silvers on a regular basis.
